Our Leadership Team

Founded in 2003, the FirstCatalyst leadership team has a strong record of achievement and as a group, brings together recognised strategic and operational thought leaders from management consulting and industry. Our senior consultants are drawn for example from A.T. Kearney and Deloitte Consulting, together with specialist industry practitioners. Based in London, United Kingdom, the majority of our consultants have worked internationally and many are multilingual (including Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish).

Profiles

Julian Calvert, Partner

Julian has over 25 years consulting, corporate finance and accounting experience. At FirstCatalyst, Julian has led strategic sourcing and eProcurement engagements across EMEA and the Far East.

Julian is a leading authority in helping companies to understand how Procurement, Human Resources and Marketing organisations can benefit from new and improved supplier relationship management processes.

Prior to FirstCatalyst, Julian spent 18 years at Touche Ross and Deloitte Consulting where he initiated and helped develop the European Reengineering, eProcurement and eSourcing practices implementing these transformational solutions globally in the healthcare, pharmaceuticals, services and telecommunications sectors.

Chetan Trivedi, Partner

Chetan is an expert in turnaround, post merger integration, profitability improvement, procurement and supply chain with over 15 years of top-tier management consulting experience, delivering Board level assignments for clients around the world.

While Chetan has served clients across diverse industries such as banking, media, telecoms, government and technology, he is a leading authority on delivering complex cost management engagements for Healthcare clients. Chetan is well versed in advanced negotiation techniques, and is often sought out by organisations to deliver training to senior management.

Prior to FirstCatalyst, Chetan ran a successful niche procurement consultancy focusing on Healthcare clients. Chetan has also served as a Senior Manager in the Operations practice of A.T. Kearney in London, and has previously held a consulting position in the New York office of Mitchell Madison Group (MMG), a company specialising in operations improvement, founded by alumni of McKinsey & Co and A.T. Kearney in the early 90's.

Gail Ellement, Partner

Gail has over 35 years top tier consulting and industry experience. At FirstCatalyst, Gail has led procurement transformation programmes and helped companies with well developed Procurement teams resolve specific challenges such as providing spend and compliance visibility, helping to align complex stakeholders and implementing innovative category management solutions for both direct and indirect categories.

Prior to FirstCatalyst, Gail led the UK Strategic Sourcing practice for Deloitte Consulting. Gail worked 7 years with A.T. Kearney, where she led numerous global sourcing engagements and spent about 20 years with organisations including American Express, Philip Morris and the Royal Bank of Canada.

In addition to her successful Strategic Sourcing focus, Gail is an award winning author of international management business cases based on her global consulting and industry experience in the UK, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
